Getting To Know Diamond Young
Meet Diamond Young
Q&A - Getting to know the members of the STS Family
Where are you from?
I’m from Memphis, TN (Cordova).
What made you consider joining the STS family?
The fact that STS is FUBU (For Us, By Us) really resonated with me. As a professional, I’m passionate about sharing my experiences to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders right here in Memphis.
What does your role within the organization entail?
I serve as a Coach in the Strive Program, working with high school students to help shape their future.
What about STS Enterprise's mission drew you in?
The opportunity to shape the minds and professionalism of tomorrow’s workforce and leaders was something I couldn’t pass up—especially alongside a team of other African American leaders and professionals.
What impact do you hope to have on the organization this year?
I aim to inspire our students to be ethical, excellent, responsible, and impactful in everything they do, setting the stage for their future success.
How do you spend your time when you are not empowering the next generation?
I enjoy dancing to my favorite DJs here in Memphis with friends, creating lasting memories with my family, or exploring cities old and new across the country.
What is your superpower or something you feel like you do better than anyone else?
My superpower is getting things done. I pride myself on seeing projects through from start to finish. While execution isn’t always perfect, I guarantee I’ll “get 'er done.”
What does a perfect day look like for you?
A perfect day is spending time at home alone. I’ve always been comfortable doing things on my own, but now I truly cherish those moments. I know this season of life won’t last forever, so I’m savoring it while I can.
What excites you most about working with the students?
Watching students grow through correction and empowerment is incredibly rewarding. It’s like seeing a flower bloom or a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. Knowing I’ve played a part in their journey is truly special to me.
Who has had the biggest influence on your leadership style?
My aunt, Erica Miles, has been a major influence. She’s a boss in everything she does and one of the few people who can give me tough love. I often turn to her for professional advice, and I’m forever grateful for her guidance. Like her, I strive to offer tough love to those I see potential in, empowering them to realize what they’re capable of achieving.
