Beyond the Brochures: STS collaborates with KQ Communications to give Students a Voice in College Marketing

At STS Enterprise, we believe that student voices matter—especially when it comes to shaping their own futures. That’s why we were thrilled to collaborate with KQ Communications to host a powerful College Recruitment & Marketing Focus Group with 50 high school juniors at Freedom Prep High School.

This engaging session wasn’t just about talking to students—it was about listening to them. KQ Communications, a powerhouse in strategic storytelling and branding, led students through a dynamic discussion exploring:

  • Where they look for college information (social media, websites, in-person visits, etc.)

  • What messaging actually resonates with them (authentic student stories vs. generic marketing)

  • What they want to see in college recruitment efforts (more transparency, access, and relatable content)

A Focus Group That Made an Impact

With expert facilitation from KQ’s outstanding team, students were not only engaged—they were energized. The session was an absolute hit! Students shared honest, thoughtful insights that will help shape how colleges better connect with future generations of students.

  • The conversation flowed. Students shared real experiences about what excites them, what worries them, and what colleges can do better when reaching out to prospective students.

  • The atmosphere was light & fun. What’s a focus group without some good food? Students enjoyed snacks and treats, making the discussion even more enjoyable.

  • The facilitators were phenomenal. The KQ Communications team brought the energy, expertise, and strategy to ensure students felt heard and valued.
