Bridging the Gap: From Student to Professional

We are incredibly grateful to Karlescia Brookins for taking the time to pour into the students of LeMoyne-Owen College as part of our Bridging the Gap Initiative. Her session, “From Student to Professional: Turning Potential Into Performance,” was both inspiring and impactful—equipping students with real insight on how to transition confidently into their professional journeys.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Greater Memphis Chamber’s Young Professionals Council (YPC) for being an outstanding partner. Through the activation of YoPros (Young Professionals), we are seeing meaningful connections form between professionals and the next generation of leaders right here in Memphis. This partnership continues to open doors, spark conversations, and create opportunities that matter.

There is a powerful truth we stand on: people become what they see. That is why we are intentional about exposing our young people to leaders who are talented, smart, engaged, and authentic—leaders who are not only thriving but are committed to changing the narrative in Memphis. Representation matters, and what our students witnessed was possibility in action.
