From Memphis to the NBA: Darry’l White’s Story of Overcoming and Achieving

At STS Enterprise, we believe that resilience, passion, and purpose open doors to incredible opportunities. For Darry’l White, an STS Senior and LeMoyne-Owen College student, that belief became a reality when she was selected as one of the nation’s top students to participate in the NBA’s HBCU Live Event & Production Internship during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.
From Memphis to the Bay: A Dream Realized
Fresh off her flight to San Francisco, Darry’l was thrilled to bring her talents to the NBA’s elite Events Team. Her excitement was contagious as she shared:
Just arrived in the Bay Area and am thrilled to bring my talents to the incredible Events Team! I’m looking forward to learning, connecting, and sharpening my skills alongside some of the best in the industry.”
Throughout NBA All-Star Weekend, Darry’l worked alongside some of the brightest minds in event production, witnessing firsthand what it takes to execute one of the most high-profile sporting events in the world.
The Experience of a Lifetime
This wasn’t just another internship—it was a transformational experience. Darry’l embraced the long hours, high-energy environment, and fast-paced challenges with determination and adaptability, proving why she belongs in the sports industry.
“Working as an HBCU Live Event and Production Intern during NBA All-Star Weekend was an experience I’ll never forget. The long hours, constant learning, and need for adaptability weren’t just challenges but opportunities to grow alongside a community of professionals who share the same passion for sports.”
More than anything, this opportunity confirmed Darryl’s passion for working in sports.
“This is why I choose to work in sports: the people, the energy, and the shared commitment to creating something bigger than ourselves.”
Through every interaction and moment, she soaked in lessons from industry professionals, built invaluable connections, and honed her event production and operations skills.
A Journey Defined by Resilience
Darry’l’s success didn’t come easy. Her journey is a testament to the power of resilience and manifestation.
Her basketball dreams began at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, but financial hardships forced her to withdraw. Instead of giving up, Darry’l pivoted with purpose—serving as a student success coach through City Year Memphis, earning the Segal Education Award, and re-enrolling at LeMoyne-Owen College.
From there, her dedication and passion for sports led her to secure two NBA internships with the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns.
Through personal and professional challenges, Darry’l has continued to push forward, defy the odds, and create her own path.
💬 “Some call it luck—I call it resilience, manifestation, and the drive to keep going.”
What’s Next?
As Darry’l prepares to graduate on May 10, 2025, she does so with a wealth of experience, a strong network, and an unshakable passion for the sports industry. The NBA All-Star 2025 Internship was just another step in her incredible journey—one that will shape her future in ways she never imagined.
STS Enterprise is beyond proud of Darry’l and her unstoppable mindset. We can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next!
