Bridging the Gap: Students Discover Opportunity and Ownership at Fabellous Beauty Lounge

On March 25, as part of the Spring 2026 Bridging the Gap Initiative, students stepped into the world of cosmetology through an immersive visit to Fabellous Beauty Lounge an established and highly respected salon in the Brookhaven/East Memphis community.

Owned and operated by entrepreneur Terica Bell, Fabellous Beauty Lounge has become a staple in the Mid-South region, attracting women from across Memphis and beyond who seek not just beauty services but a full experience centered on confidence, care, and community.

With locations in Memphis, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama, Bell has built more than a salon; she has built a brand rooted in vision, hospitality, and excellence.

During the visit, Bell welcomed students into her space with intentionality and warmth, offering a behind-the-scenes tour of the salon while sharing her personal journey into the beauty and health industry. She spoke openly about her early vision to pursue a career that combined service and purpose, and how she invested in herself by attending cosmetology school and college to gain the technical skills and business knowledge needed to bring that vision to life.

For nearly 15 years in her current location, Bell has cultivated an environment that operates as a one-stop destination for women, offering a wide range of services while emphasizing family, life experience, and high-level hospitality.

Students were able to observe the full scope of salon operations from styling and braiding to real-time client interactions, gaining insight into both the artistry and the business side of cosmetology. They explored the different roles within the salon, learned about diverse career pathways, and saw firsthand how professionalism and customer experience drive success in the industry.

What made the experience especially impactful was not just what the students learnedbut how they were made to feel.

True to her values, Bell ensured that every student felt seen, welcomed, and appreciated. In a powerful act of investment, she offered each young woman the opportunity to attend her braiding class at no cost providing them with a pathway to obtain their braiding license and begin building a skill that can create immediate and long-term opportunity.

The visit left students inspired, equipped, and more confident in their ability to pursue careers in the beauty and health industry.

This is the essence of the Bridging the Gap Initiative.

Through intentional partnerships with leaders like Terica Bell and Fabellous Beauty Lounge, students are not simply visiting workplaces; they are gaining access, building optimism, and developing the confidence to walk boldly toward their future.

Because this work is bigger than exposure. It’s about creating real pathways, real skills, and real belief.

This is why we bridge the gap.
