Bridging the Gap Initiative: Spring 2026 Career Exploration Tours
This spring, we are proud to launch our Bridging the Gap: Career Exploration Tours—an initiative designed to provide high school students with real-world exposure as they begin making important decisions about their future.
During the months of March, April, and May, approximately 100 students in grades 9–12 from Freedom Prep Academy will participate in immersive career experiences across a variety of industries throughout the Memphis community.
Why Bridging the Gap Matters
For many students, choosing a post-secondary pathway, whether college, career, or entrepreneurship, can feel overwhelming. The challenge is a lack of exposure, not ambition.
Our recent survey revealed:
70% of students pursuing careers do not personally know anyone in their desired field
82% have never visited a workplace connected to their career interests
These insights highlight a critical disconnect between students’ career interests and their real-world experiences.
Bridging the Gap exists to close that disconnect.
What This Initiative Does
Bridging the Gap focuses on intentional career exploration through direct exposure.
Students are carefully paired with companies that align with their career interests, allowing them to experience firsthand what their future pathways could look like.
Each student will participate in an on-site career tour, where they will:
Learn about the company’s mission, purpose, and impact
Explore the various roles required to operate the business
Engage with professionals working in those roles
See how their personal interests connect to real career opportunities
This is more than a visit; it’s an opportunity for students to see themselves in the spaces they aspire to enter.
What to Expect Over the Next 6 Weeks
Throughout the program, students will:
Visit a diverse range of industries and organizations
Gain hands-on exposure and meaningful interactions with professionals
Build confidence and clarity around their career goals
Be introduced to potential mentorship, resources, and future opportunities
Each experience is designed to move students from uncertainty to understanding and from interest to intention.
